Focus: Sociology of Technology and Media
This research project examines the use of media and infrastructure in the repair of everyday objects (clothing) and machinery (in textile production). It is part of Collaborative Research Center 1567 “Virtual Life Worlds,” an interdisciplinary research network based at Ruhr University Bochum (https://www.virtuelle-lebenswelten.de/.)
Your Responsibilities:
- Literature review
- Assisting with the organization and execution of events
- Proofreading and editorial support for publications
- Transcription of interviews and assistance with research data management
- Participation in working meetings
We would be particularly pleased if you could also collect your own data as part of the project and, if applicable, use it for your B.A. or M.A. thesis. Your place of work is Dortmund; for events, you will also be at Ruhr University Bochum. Your working hours are generally flexible, and many tasks can also be completed remotely. A long-term position is preferred.
Your Profile:
- B.A. or M.A. student in sociology
- Basic knowledge and experience with qualitative social research and an interest in ethnographic research
- Interest in the sociology of media and technology
- Strong communication skills and a solution-oriented approach
- Strong ability to work in a team
- Good command of English
