The campus of Dortmund University is located near the Dortmund West motorway junction, where the A45 Sauerland line crosses the B1/A40 Ruhr expressway. The Dortmund-Eichlinghofen exit on the A45 leads to the South Campus, the Dortmund-Dorstfeld exit on the A40 leads to the North Campus. The university is signposted at both exits.

By public transport

The "Dortmund Universität" S-Bahn station is located directly on the North Campus. From there, the S-Bahn line S1 runs every 15 or 30 minutes to Dortmund main station and in the opposite direction to Düsseldorf main station via Bochum, Essen and Duisburg. The university can also be reached by bus lines 445, 447 and 462. Timetable information can be found on the homepage of the Rhine-Ruhr Transport Association, and DSW21 also offer an interactive route network map.

By 'H-Bahn'

The H-Bahn, an elevated railway, is one of the landmarks of the TU Dortmund. Line 1 runs every 10 minutes between Dortmund Eichlinghofen and the Technology Centre via Campus South and Dortmund University S, while Line 2 commutes every 5 minutes between Campus North and Campus South. It covers this distance in two minutes.

By plane

From Dortmund Airport, it takes just over 20 minutes to get to Dortmund Central Station with the AirportExpress and from there to the university with the S-Bahn. Düsseldorf Airport, about 60 kilometres away, offers a wider range of international flight connections and can be reached directly by S-Bahn from the university station.

Lecture: "When Compatibility Becomes Individualized"

On September 10 and 11, the interdisciplinary doctoral workshop “Reproductive Solidarities” took place at Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen. In addition to the presentation and discussion of the various projects, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rajani Bhatia (University at Albany) delivered a keynote address.

In her presentation, “When Compatibility Becomes Individualized: Social Freezing and the Burden of Reproductive Self-Responsibility,” Isabelle Bosbach discussed how social freezing transforms a structural problem of balancing career, partnership, and the (potential) desire to have children into an individual task of biographical time management. Medical knowledge about age-related fertility addresses women as responsible agents of preventive care who are expected to secure their reproductive future in a timely manner. Drawing on interviews, she demonstrated how women navigate this responsibility amid clinical counseling, informal online communities, paid work, and personal relationships—and what uncertainties, gaps in counseling, and forms of concealment arise in the process.
