Presentation by Mirco Spiegel in Hamburg

On 28 February and 1 March 2025, the Arbeitskreis Thanatologie, organized by Thorsten Benkel in cooperation with Norbert Fischer, met at the Aby-Warburg-Haus in Hamburg. With the topic "Cultures of mourning and death in history, present and future", the areas of dying, death and mourning were examined from different perspectives.
On Friday, Mirco Spiegel gave a lecture on the topic of his dissertation project. Entitled "Techniques of survival. Crossing boundaries through artificial intelligence", he placed AIs, which are to be used as representations of the deceased and people who are still alive, in the context of technological developments in the field. The subsequent discussion enjoyed lively participation from the participants with many constructive contributions.
