New article by Mirco Spiegel published

Thorsten Benkel and Robert Gugutzer's volume "Extreme Körper. Eine körpersoziologische Zeitdiagnose" examines the supposed erosion of the normal in various areas of society. The look at extreme bodies makes developments of our time visible.
In his contribution (abstract), Mirco Spiegel addresses the question of whether the technological innovation of sex dolls leads to the creation of human-like machines. These machines are negotiated between the extremes of opportunity and risk, situated at the boundary of the living. The inanimate body-object becomes 'active' through technical components in (sexual) interaction, enabling the realization of heterogeneous imaginaries. Shelley's reflections on artificial beings accompany the analysis.
