The campus of Dortmund University is located near the Dortmund West motorway junction, where the A45 Sauerland line crosses the B1/A40 Ruhr expressway. The Dortmund-Eichlinghofen exit on the A45 leads to the South Campus, the Dortmund-Dorstfeld exit on the A40 leads to the North Campus. The university is signposted at both exits.

By public transport

The "Dortmund Universität" S-Bahn station is located directly on the North Campus. From there, the S-Bahn line S1 runs every 15 or 30 minutes to Dortmund main station and in the opposite direction to Düsseldorf main station via Bochum, Essen and Duisburg. The university can also be reached by bus lines 445, 447 and 462. Timetable information can be found on the homepage of the Rhine-Ruhr Transport Association, and DSW21 also offer an interactive route network map.

By 'H-Bahn'

The H-Bahn, an elevated railway, is one of the landmarks of the TU Dortmund. Line 1 runs every 10 minutes between Dortmund Eichlinghofen and the Technology Centre via Campus South and Dortmund University S, while Line 2 commutes every 5 minutes between Campus North and Campus South. It covers this distance in two minutes.

By plane

From Dortmund Airport, it takes just over 20 minutes to get to Dortmund Central Station with the AirportExpress and from there to the university with the S-Bahn. Düsseldorf Airport, about 60 kilometres away, offers a wider range of international flight connections and can be reached directly by S-Bahn from the university station.

A Warm Welcome, Ann Kristin Augst!

New research assistant in the department of sociology of science and technology

Since October 15, Ann Kristin Augst has been working as a research assistant at the department. She is part of the Digital Body Knowledge project, where she is collaborating with patients and doctors to investigate how their relationships are changing as a result of the spread of digital medical and media technologies. She asks about the opportunities and possible conflicts that arise as patients themselves produce biomedical data and present it to doctors. Ann Kristin Augst brings a lot of experience and expertise to the investigation of these questions, which she has gained over several years as a research assistant in the sociology department with a focus on health research at the University of Augsburg.

In addition to the sociology of medicine and health, Ann Kristin Augst is also interested in the sociology of the body, (feminist) STS and queertheory. She is currently doing her PhD at the Ludwigs-Maximilians-University of Munich.
