The campus of Dortmund University is located near the Dortmund West motorway junction, where the A45 Sauerland line crosses the B1/A40 Ruhr expressway. The Dortmund-Eichlinghofen exit on the A45 leads to the South Campus, the Dortmund-Dorstfeld exit on the A40 leads to the North Campus. The university is signposted at both exits.

By public transport

The "Dortmund Universität" S-Bahn station is located directly on the North Campus. From there, the S-Bahn line S1 runs every 15 or 30 minutes to Dortmund main station and in the opposite direction to Düsseldorf main station via Bochum, Essen and Duisburg. The university can also be reached by bus lines 445, 447 and 462. Timetable information can be found on the homepage of the Rhine-Ruhr Transport Association, and DSW21 also offer an interactive route network map.

By 'H-Bahn'

The H-Bahn, an elevated railway, is one of the landmarks of the TU Dortmund. Line 1 runs every 10 minutes between Dortmund Eichlinghofen and the Technology Centre via Campus South and Dortmund University S, while Line 2 commutes every 5 minutes between Campus North and Campus South. It covers this distance in two minutes.

By plane

From Dortmund Airport, it takes just over 20 minutes to get to Dortmund Central Station with the AirportExpress and from there to the university with the S-Bahn. Düsseldorf Airport, about 60 kilometres away, offers a wider range of international flight connections and can be reached directly by S-Bahn from the university station.

People who suffer from misophonia (hatred of sound) come together via the Internet and fight for recognition of the diagnosis: misophonia

Misophonia is described by those affected as one of the first fully-fledged disease diagnoses of the internet age. People who feel an insurmountable hatred for specific noises gather in forums and on platforms. In this article, Cornelius Schubert and Nicole Zillien look at the emergence of the diagnosis "misophonia" as a medical category in social media. They examine how misophonia becomes a popular diagnosis, how experts and laypeople refer to each other and what resistance those involved in this process are confronted with. The authors understand the emergence of the medical category as a "making up people": as the emergence of a group of affected people who identify closely with the diagnosis and fight vigorously for recognition as a disease.
