The campus of Dortmund University is located near the Dortmund West motorway junction, where the A45 Sauerland line crosses the B1/A40 Ruhr expressway. The Dortmund-Eichlinghofen exit on the A45 leads to the South Campus, the Dortmund-Dorstfeld exit on the A40 leads to the North Campus. The university is signposted at both exits.

By public transport

The "Dortmund Universität" S-Bahn station is located directly on the North Campus. From there, the S-Bahn line S1 runs every 15 or 30 minutes to Dortmund main station and in the opposite direction to Düsseldorf main station via Bochum, Essen and Duisburg. The university can also be reached by bus lines 445, 447 and 462. Timetable information can be found on the homepage of the Rhine-Ruhr Transport Association, and DSW21 also offer an interactive route network map.

By 'H-Bahn'

The H-Bahn, an elevated railway, is one of the landmarks of the TU Dortmund. Line 1 runs every 10 minutes between Dortmund Eichlinghofen and the Technology Centre via Campus South and Dortmund University S, while Line 2 commutes every 5 minutes between Campus North and Campus South. It covers this distance in two minutes.

By plane

From Dortmund Airport, it takes just over 20 minutes to get to Dortmund Central Station with the AirportExpress and from there to the university with the S-Bahn. Düsseldorf Airport, about 60 kilometres away, offers a wider range of international flight connections and can be reached directly by S-Bahn from the university station.

About the person

Career

During my Bachelor's degree in Literary, Cultural & Media Studies at the University of Siegen, I spent several semesters abroad at the Université des Antilles et de la Guyane and the Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour, thanks to my strong interest in languages and cultures. With the Master Media Culture I decided to focus on media and was able to gain practical experience as a WHB in the social and media studies project "Agentic Media: Formations of Semi-Autonomy" in the SFB "Media of Cooperation" researching drones and chabots. Since 2021, I am allowed to work in the subproject "Digital Body Knowledge. Conflict Lines of Problematic Popularity in Health Care" of the Collaborative Research Center "Transformation of the Popular" as a research assistant on digital health applications from the perspective of Science & Technology Studies and Media Studies. My main task is to map the field of digital health applications by means of digital and qualitative methods and to make it methodologically comprehensible. As part of the subproject, I was allowed to co-organize a data sprint on popular body data and supporte in the Health Data and its Practices Conference. Currently, I am writing my master's thesis in parallel to the project.
